A walk in Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas through the eyes of a local guy

   Los Cristianos, a town, finally. Unlike las Américas, Los Cristianos has a history and from a small fishing village it became a nice town with harbor.  It is a great place for families, but still very close to the party zone - Playa de las Américas . Hotel Reverón Plaza is in the centre of the city on 200 meters from Playa de Los Cristianos -the main beach in Los Cristianos, 400 meters long, with gold sand, located next to the harbor. A pedestrian area borders the main beach and there you can find many restaurants, bars and cafés. Las Vistas beach, on the other side of the port,  in my opinion is better but only because it is situated between San Telmo and Playa de las Américas. On 20 m to Playa de las Vistas is situated Arona Gran Hotel  ****   close is  Hotel Vistasur etc.

   A bit tired of seeing only hotels, shops and restaurants in Playa de las Américas  I went to a bookstore (red hound bookshop). A lovely place with books in Spanish, German, English, Russian and Scandinavian languages plus some second hand books.  Good books for the beach, honestly I missed that. Second spot - Cultural Centre in Los Cristianos, located down the hill from Hotel Paradise Park Resort Spa on Plaza del Pescador. Here you can find exhibitions of photos or paintings as well as dance classes, taichi, yoga, or the interesting biodanza course for even more positive feelings, besides a new skill on holyday why not? Better don´t miss that place mainly because of the useful information about the events during your stay in general, as there are a lot of posters (if you are not speaking Spanish trust me this is a better source of Information than the InternetJ). The friendly staff will give you information for almost any services or destinations you might need, as they are used to answering to ‘tourist questions´ no matter that the tourist info centre is very close. In the Cultural Centre I met a local very friendly guy who agreed to share some thoughts about the life in Los Cristianos and Las Américas. For him all the tourists already look like one person with different faces.  But he treats every person with respect as the living with so many different nations made him a very tolerant person. The only thing that he is laughing about is how tourists passing thru the Golden mile (area with luxurious hotels and several shopping centres on the main street in Las Américas) are stopping to stare at the lighted fountain (hmm then I felt embarrassed). What else his mother is speaking the unique whistled language called Silbo, spoken on the closest to Tenerife Island, La Gomera. This language is one of the attractions on the excursions provided by the travel agencies.   

   In my previous post I have only mentioned San Telmo, located above Playa Las Vistas (between Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos). It deserves a special attention as it is preferred by the Spanish people and it brings more party atmosphere. It´s a really calm place during the day but it comes alive at night. Continuing with San Telmo, as my new Canarian friend told me, here the most popular place for Spanish music is Casablanca, a typical Spanish club which attracts many local people. As for the good restaurants (but rather expensive) that offers typical Spanish and Canarian food I have to mention  Meson Castellano and El Gomero II  both in Playa de Las Américas. By the way in that bookshop I found a book with Canarian recipes, so I will finally try to make the famous Truchas de Batata. Passing thru San Telmo and Vista Sur shopping centre you will find yourself in Playa de Las Américas without even realize that. My friend and a tour guide for a couple of hours showed me a hotel that I didn’t notice before Europe Villa Cortes - it is a really nice, luxury hotel and what makes it different is that it is built in Mexican-style with 6 gourmet restaurants offering different cuisine.

   And a beautiful view for the end really inspiring (it is behind the above mentioned Europe Villa Cortes).

   Los Cristianos, miasto, w końcu. W przeciwieństwie do las Américas, Los Cristianos ma historię i z małej wioski rybackiej stał się ładnym miastem z  portem morskim. Jest to  idealne miejsce dla rodzin z dziećmi, a też niedaleko od Playa de las Américas - strefa imprezowa.  Hotel Reverón Plaza znajduje się w centrum miasta na 200 metrów od plaży Playa de Los Cristianos -główna plaża w Los Cristianos, około 400 m długości, ze złotym piaskiem,  tuż obok portu. Wspaniały deptak przyległy do plaży gdzie można znaleźć wiele restauracji, barów i kawiarni. Plaża las Vistas, po drugiej stronie portu, moim zdaniem jest lepsza, ale tylko dlatego, że znajduje się pomiędzy San Telmo i Playa de las Américas. Około 20m od Playa de las Vistas znajduje się  Arona Gran Hotel  **** w pobliżu są hotele  Hotel Vistasur itp.

   Poszłam do księgarni (red hound bookshop). Piękne miejsce z książkami w języku hiszpańskim, niemieckim, angielskim, rosyjskim i skandynawskich. Dobra książka na plaży, szczerze mówiąc  tego mi brakowało. Dalej - Centrum Kultury w Los Cristianos , na dół  od Hotel Paradise Park Resort Spa, Plaza del Pescador. Znaleźć tu można m.in wystawy malarstwa lub fotografii, jak również zajęcia taneczne, joga, Taichi, albo Biodanza - dla jeszcze więcej pozytywnych uczuć, oprócz tego nowe umiejętności zdobyte na urlopie - czemu nie?      Przyjazny personel chętnie udziela informacji o prawie wszystkich usługach lub miejscach docelowych których mogą być potrzebne, pomimo to że centrum informacji turystycznej znajduje się bardzo blisko. W Centrum Kultury spotkałam, miejscowego człowieka który zgodził się podzielić swoimi przemyśleniami na temat życia w Los Cristianos i Las Américas . Dla niego wszyscy turyści już wyglądają jak jedna osoba z różnymi twarzami . Ale on traktuje każdego człowieka z szacunkiem , bo  zamieszkuje z różnymi narodami i kulturami  na wyspie. Jego matka zna niepowtarzalny język gwizdów  o nazwie Silbo , używany na wyspie La Gomera . Język ten jest jedną z atrakcji  wycieczek świadczonych przez biura podróży .

   W moim poprzednim poście wam tylko wspomniałam o San Telmo, znajdujący się powyżej Playa Las Vistas (pomiędzy Playa de las Américas i Los Cristianos ). San Telmo zasługuje na szczególną uwagę , gdyż jest preferowane przez Hiszpanów i  wokół panuje naprawdę fajna atmosfera. Tutaj bardzo popularnym miejscem z muzyką hiszpańską jest Casablanca, typowy klub hiszpański, który przyciąga wielu miejscowych ludzi. Co do dobrych restauracji (ale dość drogie) , które oferują dania typowo hiszpańskie i kanaryjskie muszę wspomnieć Meson Castellano i El Gomero II zarówno w Playa de Las Américas . W  księgarni znalazłam książkę - kanaryjska kuchnia, więc wreszcie postaram się ugotować słynne Truchas de Batata. W Las Américas mój przyjaciel i  przewodnik  na kilka godzin,  pokazał mi hotel, którego nie widziałam wcześniej  Europe Villa Cortes– jest to naprawdę ładny , luksusowy hotel, zbudowany w stylu meksykańskim z 6 znakomitych restauracji oferujące różne dania.

   Los Cristianos, най-накрая град. За разлика от las Américas, Los Cristianos притежава богата история и от малко рибарско селище се превръща в хубав град с пристанище. Това е чудесно място за семейства, но все пак близо до парти зоната Playa de las Américas. Hotel Reverón Plaza  се намира в центъра на града, на около 200 м от Playa de Los Cristianos - главния плаж в Los Cristianos, с дължина около 400 м,  покрит с жълт пясък, намиращ се точно до пристанището. По пешеходната алея, която обгражда плажа,  има много ресторанти, барове и кафенета. Плажът Las Vistas, от другата страна на пристанището, според мен е по-добър, но само защото се намира между  San Telmo и Playa de las Américas. На 20 м от Playa de las Vistas се намира Arona Gran Hotel  ****   в близост е и  Hotel Vistasur и др.

  Малко изморена да разглеждам само хотели, магазини и ресторанти в Playa de las Américas , влязох в книжарница (red hound bookshop). Страхотна, с книги на испански, руски, немски, английски и скандинавски езици, а дори и книги втора употреба. Хубава книга за плажа, това толкова ми липсваше. Продължавам разходката си към Културния Център в Los Cristianos, който се намира от долната страна на Hotel Paradise Park Resort Spa на Plaza del Pescador. Тук може да намерите фото или картинни изложби, както и уроци по танци, тайчи, йога, или интересният  biodanza курс, за дори още по-позитивни емоции, а освен това ново умение придобито по време на почивка защо не?  Приятелски настроеният персонал ще ви даде информация за почти всички услуги или дестинации, които биха могли да ви интересуват,  въпреки че туристическият информационен център се намира съвсем наблизо. Тук срещнах един изключително приятелски настроен местен човек, който се съгласи да сподели  някои свои впечатления от живота в las Américas и  Los Cristianos. За него всички туристи изглеждат вече като един и същи човек, но с много лица.  Майка му говори  езика на подсвиркването – силбо, използван на съседния остров Ла Гомера. Този език сега е една от атракциите при организираните от туристическите агенции,  екскурзии до острова.

   В предишния пост само споменах San Telmo, намиращ се над Playa Las Vistas (между Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos). Заслужава специално внимание, тъй като е място предпочитано от испанците. Тук ако искате да посетите типичен испански клуб Casablanca е вашето място. Що се отнася до ресторантите, предлагащи испанска и канарска кухня трябва да спомена Meson Castellano и El Gomero II  и двата в Playa de Las Américas. Между другото в книжарницата си намерих и книга с рецепти от канарската кухня, така че Truchas de Batata ще ви направя. Моят нов приятел и екскурзовод за няколко часа ми показа и хотел, който не бях забелязала преди Europe Villa Cortes – наистина забележителен, построен в мексикански стил с 6 гурме ресторанта, всеки от които предлагащ различна кухня.
